Some of what marks Italian text as generated is a small mechanical detail, and some of it is a register default that reads stiffer than the actual situation calls for.
- Elision applied inconsistently
- L'amico, dell'anno, un'idea: the apostrophe marking a dropped vowel before another vowel is a basic rule that generated text occasionally skips or misapplies.
- Accents dropped or reversed in transit
- Perché, città, però: grave accents that carry real semantic weight, e versus è, si versus sì, sometimes get lost in copy-paste or rendered with the wrong accent direction entirely.
- Tu and lei mixed within one document
- A coherent document commits to a single register. Generated text frequently opens in the polite lei and drifts toward informal tu once the content turns conversational, a shift an Italian reader registers immediately.
- Formal connectors arriving in sequence
- inoltre, tuttavia, pertanto appearing as the reflexive way to open a new point rather than because the argument requires one.
- The non è che hedge overused
- Non è che non funzioni, ma: a hedging construction the model reaches for reflexively, reading as filler once it recurs within a short passage.
